MoistureShield Partners with the North American Deck and Railing Association (NADRA) for Deck Safety Month® May 2019

Atlanta, GA05/10/2019

MoistureShield allies with the North American Deck and Railing Association (NADRA) to encourage homeowners to examine their decks during Deck Safety Month May 2019.

As spring arrives, there’s no better place to enjoy the warm weather than on a beautiful deck—but it’s important to put safety first. May is NADRA’s Deck Safety Month® and industry experts from MoistureShield and NADRA recommend homeowners Check Your Deck® prior to planning spring activities to ensure the safety of friends and family.

NADRA estimates that 25 million decks in the United States need repair or replacement. NADRA and MoistureShield encourage homeowners to examine their decks for sagging, racking, or unsecured boards that may indicate loose fasteners or deck instability. Additionally, checking the gap for widening between the ledger and joist may offer evidence of loose bolts.

“As homeowners enjoy the benefits and splinter-free comfort of their composite decks, we want to encourage them to check for any damage or deterioration from the winter months–before the outdoor season gets into full swing,” said Josh Landis, Senior Product Manager for MoistureShield.

Along with wood-like looks and no splinter hazards, MoistureShield decking and railing helps homeowners create beautiful decks by offering a wide selection of composite deck and rail products to complement any home and budget. Innovative CoolDeck® technology in select product lines by MoistureShield reduces heat absorption up to 35% compared to conventional capped composites and is the ideal solution for decks or docks in direct sunlight. CoolDeck® gives family, friends, and pets the freedom to enjoy the deck at a reduced surface temperature. Unlike wood or other composites, MoistureShield decking becomes less slippery when wet, offering homeowners great traction regardless of weather or proximity to water.

MoistureShield is also stain, rot, and insect resistant and contains none of the chemicals found in treated lumber. Available in grooved and non-grooved boards, MoistureShield allows customers to choose their preferred fastener for a fastener-free surface, reducing injury from raised or sun-heated screws. For their capped products, their exclusive DiamondDefense coating offers a superior barrier of stain and scratch protection. Best of all, MoistureShield decking has the looks and workability of wood, providing homeowners with a no-compromise solution to all their decking needs. Learn more at www.moistureshield.com.
