A.E.R.T. Opens New Plastics Recycling Facility
Watts, Oklahoma, Plant Enables Greater Use of Disposed Plastics for Environmentally Friendly Decking and Other Green Building Materials
Springdale, Ark. — March 2, 2010 — Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies (A.E.R.T.), a leading plastics recycler and manufacturer of environmentally friendly decking and other green building products, has opened a new, state-of-the-art polyethylene plastic film and packaging waste recycling facility in Watts, Oklahoma. The 70,000 square-foot facility will allow A.E.R.T. to recover and utilize a wider range of polyethylene plastic sources in the manufacture of its composite wood decking products and accessories, including MoistureShield® decking, fencing, trim and moulding, as well as EcoShield™ deck tiles. www.moistureshield.com

The new Watts recycling facility is designed for LEED green building certification and is currently in the process for approval. Its green features include being energy efficient and managing water effectively with no stormwater discharged from the site and no potable water used in the manufacturing process. The plant’s 60-acre site includes habitat for protected wildlife.
A.E.R.T. manufactures MoistureShield composite decking and other building products using unique processing technologies that encapsulate recycled wood fibers in recycled polyethylene plastic. Each product contains a minimum of 30% post-consumer and 60% pre-consumer recycled content. MoistureShield products are resistant to rot, decay, moisture and insects, and are backed by warranties ranging from 20 years to limited lifetime, depending on the product line. Due to their high percentage of post-consumer recycled content, MoistureShield products exceed the requirements for landscape decking published in the LEED for Homes green building rating system.
